It’s been about a month since I started Offgrid, and already, the connections I’ve made here have felt incredibly meaningful. Sharing my thoughts—scattered and imperfect as they are—has become a way to reflect on my journey and connect with others navigating similar transitions. As we step into 2025, I want to take a moment to share what I hope this space can grow into.
I stepped away from my full-time design job about two years ago. At first, I thought it would be a short break—a chance to recharge before jumping into whatever was next. But that break turned into a long, winding sabbatical—a long process of untangling, re-evaluating, and slowly piecing together a version of myself that feels more aligned with what I care about.
That’s what I hoped to share here on Offgrid: the lessons I’ve learned, the challenges I’m still working through, and the questions that are shaping my next steps.
One of those questions has been about technology—and more specifically, AI. It’s something I stumbled into during my sabbatical, not because I was looking for it, but because it became impossible to ignore. AI has touched nearly every industry, including fashion, and it can feel overwhelming.
For creatives like me, who spent years in fast-paced design roles, keeping up with something as complex as AI can feel daunting—especially when there’s little mentorship or guidance for people in our age group (30s and 40s). But I’ve come to believe that AI isn’t something to fear; it’s something to understand. In this era of rapid technological change, having a perspective matters. The best way to develop that perspective is to overcome the initial hesitation and immerse ourselves in learning as much as we can.
That’s part of why I started this newsletter. I wanted OffGrid to be a place where I could share not only my personal journey but also what I’m learning about the world around me—about creativity, technology, and the connections between them.
Still, I’ll admit, I haven’t fully leaned into this vision yet. Vulnerability has held me back. Sharing the messier parts of being in the middle of figuring things out has felt overwhelming. But I’ve realized that sitting in the in-between is exactly where I need to be right now—and it’s something worth sharing.
In 2025, I want to make Offgrid feel more authentic and reflective. I’ll continue exploring the big questions I’m asking myself, the small moments that shift my perspective, and the challenges of re-navigating my career to better align with my values. I’ll also share what I’m learning about AI and its role in creative fields—not as an expert, but as someone navigating it alongside you.
And more than anything, I hope this space can grow into something that fosters deeper connection—a place where we can exchange ideas, share reflections, and learn from one another. Whether you’re a creative, someone at a crossroads, or just curious about what’s next, I hope you’ll find something here that resonates.
Thank you for subscribing and reading my newsletter. I’m excited to see where this journey takes us and the opportunities that lie ahead for all of us.
Happy New Year Everyone 💞

We often fear what we don’t understand, but if we stay open to learning from new perspectives and take what resonates with us, we can actually benefit from it. I find myself in a similar space with AI—choosing to learn from it rather than fear it, and finding ways to integrate it meaningfully into the creative process. This is such a thoughtful and concrete reflection you’ve shared here 🙏✨
